The Ceaglio is located above the Valle Maira at 1,223 meters in the old village road the Vernetti District of the community of Marmora. It is situated among the cultural landscape, which is defined by a dramatic exodus. The population was once 1,000 citizens. Now only 25 remain.
The Ceaglio is not contained in one single building. Rooms and restaurants are spread among connected buildings and former farmhouses throughout the car-free town. This creates a one of a kind ambiance. The guests are welcome to spend their time in any of the buildings. The village road was repaved with cobblestones in 2009 and the old crumbling village fountain was reconstructed to its original beauty.
Every room in the Ceaglio has its own unique layout; no two rooms are the same. They are stylishly restored and include an en suite with shower. The bathrooms are generously proportions. Thanks to double thick masonry, the rooms are thermally an acoustically isolated. None of the rooms have a television.
A central wood fire provides a comfortable temperature year-round. Solar panels are used to heat water and support the environment.
A seminar/lecture room is available in a repurposed cow stall, with room for 30 people.
A wealth of literature, maps, guidebooks, info cards, and photo books, are available to view or purchase.
For stays of a week or more, there are 4 newly Chalet-Gallery apartments available. They can be found in a quite area 500 m away from the restaurant. Each apartment sleeps 5 and can be booked as a self-catering or as a comfortable room with half-board in the restaurant.
